Trust me this "UGLY" version is not nearly as ugly as a canon 7D with a 70-200 f.2.8 lens in a lake of horse crap and rain water......so ive learned cameras are so adjustable, but when submerged in horse crap!!!
However, pre tragedy I have learned that its ok to go manual. Its ok not to get it right the first, second, third, or three hundredth time, just as long as I get it!!! I have learned to play with my depth which refers to the range of distance that appears sharp. This can be manipulated by camera equipment, aperture and focusing distance.
I have had very bad things happen to my equipment. Occasionally I will even take a photo of what's happened to the equipment with my back-up camera. Those photos are pretty interesting of gear getting thrashed.
